PROMOTING POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR THROUGH BEHAVIOURAL INSIGHTS
Many goals that individuals and organisations strive for—such as healthier living, more sustainable actions, reduced aggression, or safer behaviour—stand or fall with behaviour. But behaviour does not change on its own. Behind every choice lie beliefs, habits, and contexts that can make change difficult.
Behavioural Insights Belgium is an organisation—founded as a spin-off of Ghent University—that helps individuals and organisations achieve sustainable behaviour change. We do so explicitly on the basis of the most robust scientific insights from the cognitive and behavioural sciences.
Whether it involves one-on-one guidance, policy advice, or interventions in schools or public spaces: We help you translate science into meaningful change.
APPLICATION AREAS OF BEHAVIOURAL INSIGHTS
Behavioural insights can be applied across all areas of life.
Recent projects include promoting:
SUSTAINABILITY
Environmentally friendly behaviour
Behavioural insights make sustainable actions feasible and appealing, enabling people to more easily contribute to a healthier planet, today and in the future.
WELL-BEING
Physical and mental health
Healthy choices and resilience are strongly shaped by our environment. Behavioural science helps design habits and environments that strengthen well-being.
SOCIETY
Prosocial behaviour and safety
Helping others, following rules, and preventing aggression: positive, adaptive behaviour improves social cohesion and safety. Using behavioural insights, we promote this in an effective and human-centred way.
" Behaviour is not an elusive mystery. With insight and collaboration, we can build systems that truly help people thrive."

Latest news
We are working on a range of projects that promote healthy environments and adaptive behaviour. Here we regularly share insights, ongoing projects, and blogs about behaviour change.
Blog: Why we act against our values and how to change
NWe often know what might help us feel better. We tell ourselves to eat better, drink less, exercise more, be kinder to ourselves, or stop scrolling late at night. Yet, despite our best intentions, we frequently do the opposite. Why is it so hard to act on what we know to be useful?
Project: Strengthening mental health
In an ongoing project, we support clinicians and individuals in dealing with mental challenges such as depression, anxiety, or burnout. We start from robust scientific insights into the origins and treatment of mental health problems, and translate these into practical, applicable interventions.
Scientific educational support
In this project, we support families and caregivers with insights that actually work. We do not rely on opinions or general tips, but on evidence-based knowledge about parenting. We translate this into concrete advice that provides guidance across a wide range of parenting situations.
